Community Monitoring and Preparedness for Natural Disasters (COMPREND)* Announcing: Scientists from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) conducted a field mission to the Philippines in May, 2007, to explore the possibility of technology transfer in environmental monitoring for geohazards (landslides) at the local community level. Recent success of such a community-based geohazard monitoring and forecasting effort was recorded in Sichuan Province, China, on July 7th, 2007! Crustal Stress for Community Awareness Network (CSCAN) in The Philippines reports successful monitoring and forecasting results in 2006.
